Tomorrow is a day to celebrate! There will be an awesome show! Today is okay too.
I am trying to get back into shape, it feels weird to be very physically exhausted for the first times in years. Me and some friends are now playing foot (soccer) every wednesday evenings in this awesome little court in Little Italy. Right now we basically suck but with time I do expect us to give them more of a fight. Also I am biking to work every sunny day now. It is not as bad as I thought it was last year.
It's looking up! and the sun is shinning bright on little Montreal.
Meanwhile I am looking to find a very cheap bass amplifier. That lowest-end Marshall sounds best up to now.

Okay people, this is capital to your survival. If you are about the same age as me (19-24?) you probably were raised on Offspring's Americana. The very first teenage drama and hangouts I have had were either on the sound of Offspring, Limp Bizkit or Papa Roach. Don't fucking deny it, you did like that shitty Alien Ant Farm cover song when you were fourteen too.
So what I want you to do is dig out that old Offspring record you have lying somewhere in your hidden rack of old disks you are ashamed of ever liking but still keep because you can't get yourself to throw them away. Take it, blow the dust off, take off the plastic cover which has obviously a leg broken and put it in your old nineties' style boombox. You know which one, the one with two shitty speakers, a cassette reader and which looks like a fucking alien spaceship.
Volume on maximum. Dance, little nineties' child, dance.

Il y a de ces albums qu'on identifie à des lieux mystiques ou pas, des plages imaginaires d'époques précises sans trop le savoir.
J'écoutais dernièrement le dernier album de No Age, Nouns, qui d'un point de vue strictement technique se trouve entre Fuck Buttons, DFA et Animal Collective. Mais cet album, à travers et grâce au son gricheux qui en sort entre dans une classe à part, il nous transporte dans un de ces lieux imaginaires construits de lectures, de films et d'expériences personelles. No Age va me plonge dans les villes sans personalités autres que le ciment du nord des États-Unis. On y entre comme dans une banlieu semi-urbaine du Massachussets, prendre un snack dans un fast food sur le bord de l'autoroute avant de continuer plus loins, quelquepart où les noms veulent dire quelquechose.
C'est pour ça que dans une de ces bibliothèques imaginaires qui flottent dans le gulf-stream de mes petites impressions cet album ira toujours plutôt s'asseoir à côté de Mellon Collie des Smashing Pumpkins ou Just Like the Fambly Cat de Grandaddy. Les slumps poétiques parcequ'ils écrasent l'horizon entre beaucoup de ciment, quelques arbres et un ciel presque sans étoiles.
Selon moi ce sont des albums profondéments américains, de cete amérique que je côtoie mais sans vraiment la connaître. Cette amérique qui a été importée sauvagement au Québec et a créée tous les Valleyfield et Mirabel de ce monde. C'est une jeunesse dont le frère à une Honda Civic et les parents paient pour la garderie privée. Une jeunesse white thrash à sa manière qui calle des vingt-quatres de Laurentides sur le bord d'un lac et pisse dans la piscine creusée. C'est presque les Simpsons, mais il y a le suicide et la drogue et tout le drama d'ado et celui encore plus thick d'adultes qui parlent à travers leur tondeuses à gazon. Dans ce lieu du milieu des années quatre-vingt dix où il ne pleut jamais sur la colline.
D'ailleurs, tapez vous It Never Rains on Monitor Hill en écoutant les deux albums de Mellon Collie l'un après l'autre. Versez-vous un whisky, fumez un joint, c'est une expérience spirituelle je crois:

On a good note, I just beat Muse's Knights of Cedonia on hard at Guitar Hero 3! I shine of joy. To celebrate I drank half a bottle of rum and endlessly played that Pixies' songs (you know which one) on my actual guitar with all tubes shining, I really like doing the small progression at 1:50 or so and the small solo. Next step: buying a decent overdrive pedal, then maybe a real delay and an octaver.
A few weeks ago, while Ze Canadien was still giving us high expectations and they did beat the Flyers in overtime, we had been drinking a little bit and Renaud started drawing crap in my sketchbook.

Cheers indeed people, the sun is out and university is almost over! I have brought Guitar Hero into the house and it is eating me alive.
Also, for those who did not know, Brian Lee O'Maley, author of the Scott Pilgrim comics, also makes some neat music for everyone to download. It is very good if you listen to it on speakers, but really horrible on headphone, I do not know why.

So, what is going on with me, you may ask.
Well, stuff. Alcohol, university, videogames and an unplugged and mostly deficient scanner.
There's lots of drawings, even some good ones, it's just that I absolutely ucking hate scanning and uploading. So, basically, fuck it until I manage the strenght and the abnormally huge amount of free time necessary to actually put stuff on the internet.
No matter, I have just bought a Fender Blues Jr amp (http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0213205000), it's going to be good.
Also we have almost finished winning the Stanley Cup at NHL 2K6, SO CLOSE! But I am moving out of here this Saturday, so this week-end promises weird times, for there will also be restaurants, bars, Superbowl, hockey games and homeworks.

Quelques pièces ratées, mais Stallion est fucking epic, vraiment. Ce n'est pas Shut Up I Am Dreaming, mais ça se tien bien. En attendant le prochain Wolf Parade.
19 - Daniel Bélanger - L'échec du matériel
Très belle poésie, bonnes ambiances, si ce n'était pas de quelques chansons qui brisent le charme de l'album, il irait s'amuser beaucoup plus haut.
18 - Miracle Fortress - Five Roses
Pour rèver éveillé, superbes guitares. Un peu trop consistant, ça manque une touche de magie décapante que Think About Life donnent à fond, mais c'est un très bon album pour regarder par la fenètre.
17 - The Go! Team - Proof Of Youth
Pas mal semblable au premier, oui, mais putain qu'il était bon ce premier. Celui-ci présente plus de voix et c'est tout à fait apprécié. De l'énergie à revendre et ça fait danser tout le monde.

C'est la fête! Et mixer la bass de Blue Monday sur Where Is My Mind, c'est superbe. Plus punk que les punk.

Une sensibilité à quelquepart entre Broken Social Scene et le Buena Vista Social Club, et la chanson thème, qui réchauffera le coeur le plus froid. À consommer avec un rhum blanc vieilli on the rock, dehors, en plein soleil, un bon roman latino-américain à la main.
